The main goals of this Observatory are are:
1. Promoting the avoidance of use of mental health as an excuse to give out sensational or scandalous information or use exaggerated "soul moving" or negative social impact news.
2. Encourage journalists, publicity creators, publishers, producers, etc., in representing people with mental disorders from a human point of view and remain away from stereotypes or characterisations.
3. Promote suitable use of medical terminology associated with mental disorders and avoid exclusive identification and labelling of persons with the mental disorder they suffer.
4. Alert public personalities of the impact they may have in their statements on mental disorders and encourage them to use their voice in contributing in reducing stigma.
