Stigmatising attitudes in society towards people with mental disorders is also viewed in health services and in basic medical consultancies and specialists.
Obviously, not all health professionals stigmatise or discriminate and many have great awareness of this group of patients. However, still today there is a background of stigmatisation that even affects mental health professionals.
This section describes how discriminatory attitudes are produced in this collective, both in general health care as well as mental health care. Also, a sample of opinions offered by patients and relatives is offered and what are the expectations they expect from health services. Links of interest are included for orienting health professionals on how to address the media when dealing with mental health issues.
